How Getting Started Works:

Step 1: Reach out

Step 2: Free consultation

A 20-minute consultation helps us see if we’re a good fit. If so, you’ll complete intake paperwork (20 to 30 minutes) before your first session.

Step 3: Your first appointment

Our first session is 60 minutes, and we'll use it to understand your history, the challenges you're facing, and your goals.

Step 4: Ongoing sessions

From there, we'll meet weekly for 50- to 55-minute sessions, in person or by telehealth (if you’re located in Massachusetts or Virginia), working toward the goals we set together.

What to Expect From Your 20-Minute Consultation

The phone consultation is an opportunity to get to know each other. I'll ask a few questions about what's bringing you in and what you're hoping to get out of therapy, and you're welcome to ask about my approach, experience, or anything else on your mind.

We’ll also go over logistics like fees, scheduling, and whether in-person or telehealth sessions suit you best. Together, we’ll decide if it feels like we’re a good fit.

FAQs

Is the phone consultation free?

Yes. The 20-minute consultation is free and doesn't commit you to ongoing therapy.

Do you offer in-person or telehealth sessions?

Both. I see clients in person at my office in Brookline, just outside Boston, and by telehealth anywhere in Massachusetts and Virginia.

Can I work with you if I live outside Massachusetts or Virginia?

Yes, as long as you're physically located in Massachusetts or Virginia during each session. My licensing is based on where you are at the time of our appointment, not where you live. Many clients from nearby states, such as New Hampshire and Rhode Island, come to my Brookline office in person or join telehealth sessions from somewhere in Massachusetts, like their workplace or a parked car.

If you're traveling or out of state on a session day, we can reschedule for a time when you're back in Massachusetts or Virginia.

How much do therapy sessions cost?

The first appointment is $300 for 60 minutes, and ongoing sessions are $275 for 50 to 55 minutes. I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards, including HSA cards.

You can find more information on my Fees and Insurance Page.

Do you take insurance?

I'm an out-of-network provider for most major carriers, with one exception. I'm in-network with UnitedHealthcare Student Resources for Boston College and Tufts University students.

Many plans reimburse part of out-of-network care, and I'll give you the paperwork to submit. It’s usually as simple as uploading a single document to a portal.
